The Backgrounding Properties:

Hill River is a mixed farming / cattle operation located 12km East of Jurien Bay with a focus on animal welfare and sustainability.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a full-time permanent Farm Hand and Senior Farm Hand to join our friendly team based at Hill River Farm.

**Please note that these positions are permanent roles so are not suitable for those on short term /working holiday visas**

Within this role you will facilitate our current cattle and pasture operations involving various aspects of the day-to-day farm operation including animal husbandry, machinery operation, feeding of livestock and regulatory record keeping. This is a hands-on role with a wide range of day-to-day responsibilities across both livestock care and general property maintenance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Handling and monitoring cattle, and pasture management.
• Drafting, yard work, and low-stress livestock handling.
• Regular feeding rounds and paddock checks.
• Fencing installation, repairs, and general infrastructure maintenance.
• Weed eradication, including chemical spraying.
• Operating and maintaining farm machinery and vehicles.
• Supporting pasture improvement, paddock rotation, and water infrastructure upkeep.
• Other duties as required.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Good horse-riding skills along with basic level horsemanship.
• Proven experience as a farm hand or in an agricultural role, preferably in the farming, and animals.
• Hold a current manual driver's licence.
• Basic computer skills.
• An ability to record information and effectively communicate within the workplace.
• Basic level cattlemanship knowledge.
• Ability to work alone and in a team environment.
• Available to work occasional rostered weekends.
• Hold a current manual driver's licence.
• Strong focus on safety, animal welfare and bio-security standards.
• Physically fit to meet the inherent requirements of the role, including manual handling tasks.
