Aircraft Performance Engineers – Flight Data Engineer
to join our team. These newly created roles will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of flight efficiency, environmental impact, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy AI and machine learning models to optimize aircraft performance.
- Analyse large-scale flight and operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering, flight operations, and sustainability teams to implement data-driven solutions.
- Support the integration of AI tools into existing systems and workflows.
- Create dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights and performance metrics.
- Contribute to Qantas' sustainability goals by identifying carbon reduction opportunities through data science.
About You
You're a curious and analytical thinker with a passion for aviation and data. You thrive in cross-functional environments and are excited by the opportunity to apply cutting-edge technology to real-world challenges.
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Golang, Python, R, or similar.
- Experience with, and demonstrable adoption of, emerging AI technologies.
- Familiarity with aviation data sources (e.g., QAR, FDR, ACARS) and aircraft performance principles.
- Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualifications in Aerospace or Data Science.
- Experience in airline operations or aviation consultancy.
- Experience with application development on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
