Launch Recruitment are exclusively supporting a global payments organisation on the lookout for an IT Operations Engineer to join on a permanent hybrid basis.

This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in
cloud platforms and systems administration
, who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working across the full project lifecycle, from planning and architecture through to automation and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and manage scalable infrastructure solutions using Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Build and maintain container orchestration environments using Kubernetes
  • Develop and maintain Shell and Bash scripts to automate routine operational tasks
  • Perform system administration duties on Unix/Linux servers ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, performance, and capacity, proactively addressing any issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployment and integration activities.
  • Contribute to the development of infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in out-of-hours support rota as required (on-call allowance provided).

Required Skills And Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in Cloud/System Support roles
  • Proven commercial experience with AWS Cloud services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and operations in production environments
  • Proficiency in Shell and Bash scripting for automation and system management
  • Solid background in Unix/Linux server administration.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD workflows
  • Good understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and system troubleshooting
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment
