In this role, you'll:

• Operate a grader to spread gravel and perform final trimming on road rehabilitation and heavy patching sites with limited supervision.
• Carry out a variety of manual and skilled labour tasks, including the use of powered and non-powered hand tools and small plant equipment, either independently or as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
• Provide guidance to team members and lead small work groups as needed, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely—this includes operating graders to meet required standards and tolerances.
• Perform routine safety inspections and basic maintenance on plant equipment, such as refuelling and fluid checks, while maintaining accurate usage and maintenance records.
• Address routine operational issues using standard procedures and escalate complex problems to supervisors or managers to minimise risk and support work objectives.
• Apply knowledge of WHS legislation, policies, and procedures to identify, assess, and manage risks, maintain accurate records, and promote a strong safety culture.
• Follow environmental protocols by identifying and addressing minor hazards, selecting low-impact work methods, and applying appropriate controls to reduce environmental impact.

Work a 9-day fortnight roster.

About You
We're seeking a team-oriented worker who has an eye for detail and is used to working in similar environments.

You will bring extensive experience in road construction and maintenance, with a strong focus on levelling and trimming processes.

You will use your well-developed literacy and numeracy skills to complete accurate work records and communicate effectively within a team environment.

You will also demonstrate a proven ability to trim and finish road pavements to precise, tight tolerances.

You will also hold the following

• Current Australian motor vehicle driver licence (Class C); minimum requirement: Provisional P1 licence.
• Willingness to undertake any legislated or internal licensing or ticketing requirements as directed.

We take WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously. Therefore, to be successful in this role it is a requirement that you must reside within a 70 kms distance from the Narrandera depot.
