About the Role
Peak Downs is located in Queensland's Bowen Basin on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people.
We are currently recruiting experienced Shotfirers to work a 7/7-day shift only roster.
Reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor you will be responsible for:
- Supervise and assist blast crews in setting up, loading, tying-in, and firing of blasts.
- Manage explosives magazines and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and secure blast areas before detonation.
- Follow drill and blast designs and ensure accurate execution.
- Inspect post-blast areas for safety, including checking for misfires, fumes, and rockfalls.
- Maintain accurate blast documentation and reports.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Collaborate with site supervisors, and engineers.
About You
The successful candidate will possess on or more of the following skills:
- A genuine commitment to safety.
- Strong communication skills and a track record of achieving results through influence.
- Current blast crew experience with significant open-cut mining experience (minimum 3 years).
- QLD explosive security clearance and Shotfirers Licence mandatory (preferably with the monitor and control the effects of blasting on the environment competency).
- Experience with digishot, nonel and det cord initiation highly regarded.
- HR/MR, High risk/forklift, loader, stem truck, MPU and skid steer highly regarded.
- Leadership courses, S1, 2,3 & G2 also highly regarded.
- Passion for continuous improvement to drive individual and team performance.
