We are on the hunt for a passionate and driven Commis Chef to join our team
delivering innovative culinary experiences that celebrate Melbourne's produce and culinary heritage.
As a
Commis Chef
, you'll play a key role in the smooth operation of our kitchen, supporting senior chefs and learning the craft in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You'll work closely with our senior chefs, following established recipes and procedures to deliver high-quality dishes that reflect our commitment to excellence.
TFE Hotels in collaboration with The Mulberry Group will operate five distinct venues under one roof, each designed to reflect Melbourne's layered food culture while adding something new to the mix. From morning coffee runs to late-night soundtracks, these venues will be seamlessly woven into the rhythm of the hotel and the city beyond.
What you'll be doing (not limited to):
- Uphold high standards of food production, presentation, hygiene, and safety, ensuring all workspaces and equipment are clean and compliant.
- Prepare mise en place to support smooth operations across current and upcoming shifts.
- Manage your section efficiently, maintaining strong organisation and workflow.
- Follow direction from senior chefs, ensuring food is prepared and presented to professional standards.
- Support safe work practices, correct food storage and labelling, equipment maintenance reporting, and cross-team communication.
About You
You're a passionate Commis Chef looking to grow your career in a dynamic and creative kitchen environment. You bring:
- Hands-on experience in quality restaurants, hotels, or multi-outlet kitchens, with a strong desire to learn and develop.
- A produce-driven, contemporary food philosophy, with attention to detail and a willingness to contribute fresh ideas.
- A collaborative mindset, eager to support and learn from senior chefs while building strong relationships within the kitchen team.
- A commitment to food safety and hygiene, with a basic understanding of HACCP and kitchen operations.
- A guest-first approach, helping to deliver memorable dining experiences that reflect the venue's culinary vision.
