Our client is a leading developer and operator of hyperscale data centers with global footprints in locations such as Australia, Japan, Korea, America, Frankfurt etc. Currently seeking for a highly skilled and proactive Cost and Contract Manager to join their dynamic team as they grow in Melbourne.

New Headcount

This is a pivotal role where you will be the central point for all financial and contractual governance across our data center operations and capital projects. You will ensure that our contracts are robust, our costs are controlled, and our commercial risks are mitigated. This is not just a back-office function; you will be a strategic partner to our operations, project management, and procurement teams, directly contributing to the financial health and stability of our critical assets.

Responsibilities

Cost Management & Reporting:

· Develop, manage, and report on detailed OPEX and CAPEX budgets for data center operations and projects.

· Implement robust cost control processes, tracking actual spend against budget and forecasting future expenditures.

· Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities, variance root causes, and trends.

· Prepare and present regular financial performance reports to senior management.

· Manage the chargeback/allocation of costs to internal business units or external clients as required.

Contract Management & Administration:

· Administer a portfolio of critical contracts, including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and vendor contracts for power, maintenance, security, and construction.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual matters, ensuring all parties meet their obligations.

· Manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle, from initial drafting and negotiation through to renewal, extension, or close-out.

· Ensure compliance with contract terms, conditions, and SLAs, managing any penalties or rewards.

Procurement & Vendor Management:

· Lead the commercial and contractual aspects of the tender process for new vendors and services.

· Negotiate favourable terms and conditions with suppliers and contractors to minimise risk and maximise value.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, conducting regular performance reviews.

Risk & Compliance:

· Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks across the operation.

· Ensure all contracting and procurement activities adhere to company policies and Australian regulatory standards.

· Manage the variation process for projects, ensuring all changes are properly documented, priced, and approved.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a commercially astute professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for process improvement.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

· 5+ years of proven experience in a similar Cost Manager, Contract Manager, or Commercial Manager role.

· Demonstrated experience within the data center, critical infrastructure, construction, engineering, or related high-availability industries.

· Strong understanding of contract law, standard forms of contract (e.g., AS4000, NEC), and procurement processes.

· Exceptional financial management skills, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/financial systems.
