Production Team Leader

At Mint Innovation, we are pioneering a sustainable way to reduce e-waste build-up and help restore our planet by returning circular green metals to economies everywhere. We are looking for a driven and passionate Production Team Leader to help bring that to life in our world first facility in Sydney.

The position is full-time on a roster basis which may include weekends and evenings and will be located at our facility Smithfield, Sydney.

As a key member of our team, you will, you will play a pivotal role in the running of our groundbreaking recycling facilities. You will be hands-on, requiring strong leadership in shift management, safety, process control, and problem-solving.

Skills and Experience:

As a company that was born in a dingy basement, everyone at Mint has a "can do, no fuss" attitude and our Production Shift Leader will be no different.

Our ideal candidate will have as many of the following qualities as possible:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • Postgraduate qualification in engineering or business management preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing operations, or process plant environments.

  • A proven safety, maintenance, and production track record

  • Demonstratable knowledge and experience working in manufacturing operations

  • Ability to run analytical samples in collaboration with laboratory team is beneficial

  • Experience and certification in Elevated Work Platform, working from heights, Spill kit and Gantry Crane Operation

  • Proficiency with engineering systems and computer applications

  • Strong leadership and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions

  • Analytical problem-solving approach with attention to detail

  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • Practical, hands-on, "can-do" attitude

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, collect data, analyse plant trends and providing feedback to R&D, senior management for process improvements to meet production targets
  • Oversee and coordinate production schedules in collaboration with R&D, Engineering, Maintenance, Operations
  • Oversee efficient plant performance including: valuating and selecting materials for equipment to ensure compliance with standards and cost-effectiveness;  overseeing strategies to prevent corrosion in plant equipment
  • Test and commission equipment (such as valves, pumps, heat-exchangers, dosing systems and automation systems) to ensure efficiency and yield
  • Proactively review operational trends, plant equipment and processes, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability, including compiling reports and finding.
  • Facilities investigations and root cause analysis to investigate equipment failure, process deviations that may occur during production. Investigate using root cause analysis tools and analytical techniques, and support in conceptualising corrective actions to prevent future failures and improve overall material and process performance
  • Ensure materials and processes comply with industry standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, API) and regulatory requirements. Stay updated on advancements in material science and incorporate best practices into plant operations.
  • Manage waste handling, chemical stocktakes, and compliance with disposal protocols.
  • Lead and participate in safety committee meetings, toolbox talks, emergency management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Apply technical, mechanical and software skills to address challenges in a chemical plant environment.
  • Work closely with teams, providing technical and mechanical support for plant operations and material selection.
