LO-GO Appointments QLD is seeking an experienced Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator for a 12 week on-site assignment with a Council in North-West Queensland.

The Position:

You will hit the ground running to provide hands-on WHS coordination for a major capital works project, supporting multi-skilled teams spread across multiple depots and remote work camps. Working side-by-side with supervisors, crews, and contractors, you will ensure compliance, manage hazards, investigate incidents, oversee rehabilitation and return-to-work programs, and promote safe work practices in a live and complex operational environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The ability to work away from home for the full assignment
  • Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety or higher
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role within Local Government
  • Construction Industry Induction (Blue/White Card)
  • Current 'C' Class Driver Licence
  • Proven WHS coordination experience in civil construction, ideally within local and/or state government
  • Experience working in remote areas, including on gravel roads
  • Capability to conduct plant and machinery accreditations
  • Knowledge/qualification as a Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining safety management systems
  • Proficiency in WHS and administrative software
  • Strong communication skills and concise reporting style
  • Commitment to confidentiality in a public sector setting
  • In-depth knowledge of WHS legislation and the ability to apply it within an organisation
  • Leadership and management skills

Additional Information:

To be considered, you must hold proven experience supporting capital projects within a State or local government environment. The hourly rate is negotiable. Self-contained accommodation will be provided for the duration of the assignment and travel expenses will be covered at the beginning and end of the assignment.
