Caterpillar products generate and process large amounts of data from sensors, on-board models, and control algorithms in real-time creating real-world machine usage information. As part of the overall digital strategy Caterpillar has developed an integrated family of machine-based information technology products that interconnect machines to provide real time guidance, tracking, monitoring and supervisory control of the operational mining fleet. This family of products is branded MineStar. The MineStar product range links with other mining and business information systems and is an integral part of the Mining Technology Enabled Solutions vision.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Product Manager to join our multi-disciplinary software engineering teams that develop world class mining software solutions. The Product Manager will be responsible for prioritising and owning software features developed by a high performing, self-managing and dynamic team, delivering high-value software for our enterprise customers.
Responsibilities:
- Performs program backlog refinement in the Agile Release Train for each Program Increment to ensure successful delivery of committed customer value per release.
- Works closely with the Solution Management team to gain a clear understanding of the prioritised epic so that feature breakdown and dissemination can occur on a timely basis to ensure adequate preparation time for the software teams.
- Leads feature refinement sessions with Solution Managers, Architects and Tech Leads to organise, prioritise and create detail for the backlog of features.
- Works with the Product Owners to agree on accepted feature completion, including validation of the feature completeness, adherence to the set acceptance criteria, test plan completeness, automation test coverage, and that the feature otherwise complies with the prescribed Definition of Done (DoD).
- Collaborates with architects and technical leads to assist with decision-making and sequencing of the critical technological infrastructure required for feature delivery enablement, including modernising the codebase, introducing new components of the architectural runway, and managing technical debt.
- Owns the priority of work for the Agile Release Train and aligns the priority to that of Solution Management to ensure the right features are developed and delivered according to the whole of solution plan.
Experience required:
- 4+ years' experience in working as a Product Manager or equivalent field.
- 4+ years' experience in mining.
- Experience with software-based product development, including owning, identifying and delivering value for customers, will be highly valued.
Skills Required:
- Strong customer focus and dedication to delivering a quality outcome for the customer.
- Willingness to take feedback on board and provide feedback to colleagues, junior staff, and leaders.
- Strong analytical, design and problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Understanding of modern technologies and methods of working.
- This role is an in office position 5 days per week
