Based in beautiful Armidale, you'll join the Multicultural and Refugee Health Service - an award-winning, nurse-led, multidisciplinary team committed to ensuring all refugees have access to high-quality, trauma-informed healthcare. The team is made up of experienced professionals across nursing, general practice, allied health, speech pathology, social work, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, interpreting services, paediatrics, and program management. Our service vision is clear: to create a healthcare environment where every individual—across all cultures, languages, and backgrounds feels seen, heard, safe, and supported.

About the role:

This is a newly created trailblazing position with scope for growth and innovation. As the Nurse Practitioner, you will lead and deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive care to refugees living in Armidale and across regional NSW. Working with the support of experienced clinicians and interpreters, you'll manage complex patient needs, contribute to a new model of care, and advocate for equitable access to health services. This is an opportunity to shape refugee health in regional settings and deliver care that makes a real difference in people's lives.

About you:

We're looking for a compassionate and visionary leader who can:

  • Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care
  • Lead clinical practice in Refugee Health and/or Primary Care
  • Navigate complex healthcare situations with professionalism and empathy
  • Work autonomously while collaborating across a multidisciplinary team
  • Build trust, resolve conflict, and communicate with cultural sensitivity

You'll bring to the role:

  • Registration as a Nurse Practitioner with AHPRA
  • A commitment to social justice and culturally responsive healthcare
  • Clinical experience in primary health, refugee health, paediatrics, immunisation, or mental health
  • Emotional intelligence, leadership capabilities, and strong communication skills

Requirements:

  • At least three (3) years of full-time experience in an advanced practice nursing role in your chosen area, within the past six (6) years.
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse, plus current endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • If you are a Transitional Nurse Practitioner, you must show strong progress towards endorsement. If not yet endorsed, you may be appointed temporarily (up to 3 years) while completing endorsement requirements.
  • Unrestricted NSW driver's licence and ability to travel as needed.
