The role

Applications are currently being sought for a full time Apprentice Grounds Person (Sports Turf management) to join our high performing maintenance team working Monday to Friday.

The Apprentice Grounds Person is responsible for supporting the works required to keep the school lawns, ovals, nature strips, church grounds and related infrastructure in good order. With an emphasis on turf management, the Apprentice Grounds Person also supports the Head Groundsman in maintaining equipment (such as pumps, irrigation and drainage) and stock levels to ensure all grass areas are maintained and free from harmful insects, weed and diseases.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • A commitment to establishing a career in grounds maintenance or sports turf management.
  • A basic understanding of maintaining gardens and lawns.
  • An enrolment in a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or the commitment to doing so.
  • Experience maintaining a cricket wicket would be advantageous.
  • The ability to handle a range of horticultural machinery and powered hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage with others in a team environment.

A current Working with Children Check clearance is essential for this position. Should you not have a current check, you would be expected to apply for one if you are successful in securing the position
