Better and fairer care. Always.
St Vincent's has been a leader in Australia's health and aged care landscape for more than 165 years. Since our founders, the Sisters of Charity, opened our first hospital in 1857, our services and nearly 30,000 people have been behind some of Australia's most important medical breakthroughs. We are a microcosm of Australia's health and aged care system and are uniquely positioned to lead and respond to our rapidly changing environment.
We are looking for a special kind of person - a St Vincent's kind of person. Someone who puts excellence, compassion, connection and caring for other people at the heart of everything they do.
As the Head of Enterprise Communications, you will have the unique opportunity to play a strategic, system-wide leadership role.
Reporting to the National Director of Communications and Brand, you will lead a national team and shape the future of how St Vincent's communicates. This is more than a job; it's a chance to use your expertise in communications to support organisation-wide functions, including Digital & Technology, People & Culture, Mission, as well as driving social media, digital and brand excellence. You will directly influence how our people, partners, and the public receive clear, timely, and values-aligned information.
This is a Permanent Full Time position based in any of our Group Head Offices in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne on a hybrid working arrangement. There may be a requirement to travel interstate and work outside standard business hours occasionally as part of this role.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Shape a Unified Communications Vision: Lead the charge in developing and delivering integrated communication strategies that support St Vincent's key organisational functions, ensuring a cohesive and compelling message across the organisation. Develop and drive a calendar of communications activity which supports CEO and ELT objectives and builds strategic understanding across the organisation.
- Innovate and Lead the Digital Landscape: Take ownership of St Vincent's digital presence by providing strategic direction for our social media, digital content, web, and intranet channels, driving innovation in digital storytelling and engagement.
- Build a High-Performing National Team: Lead and mentor a national team of communications professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Forge Strategic Partnerships: Work closely with national and jurisdictional peers, as well as executive leaders, to provide trusted communications counsel and build strong, collaborative relationships.
- Protect and Elevate Our Brand: Act as a guardian of the St Vincent's brand, ensuring all communications are aligned with our values, tone, and brand identity while managing risk and reputation.
- Steer Organisational Change: Play a critical role in supporting national change and transformation programs by providing expert communications advice and execution to ensure our people are informed and engaged.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Use data insights and emerging tools to improve the reach, engagement, and impact of enterprise communications, ensuring we are always evolving and adopting best practices.
Things that work for us:
- Demonstrated experience in communications, media, or corporate affairs, with success in a senior leadership role within a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams across key communications disciplines, including corporate communications, social media, digital content, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience partnering with senior executives to develop and deliver communications for enterprise functions or major change programs
- Professional qualifications and education in communications, media, or a related field.
- Strong strategic planning, project management, and content development skills.
- Experience working within the health, aged care, government, or not-for-profit sectors is desirable.
Things that work for you:
- Ability to visibly see your impact on the business and its service
- Competitive salary packaging options
- Discounted private health insurance
- Employee Assistance Program for staff and their families
- Access to the Fitness Passport (FP)
