JOB TITLE

Field Service Engineer – Life Science & Laboratory Instrumentation

LOCATION

(One open vacancy per state)

  • Sydney, NSW

    Level: Intermediate – Senior FSE
  • Brisbane, QLD

    Level: Intermediate – Upper Intermediate FSE

*Both roles are required to travel across Australia and occasionally New Zealand.

ROLE/DESCRIPTION

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be the technical face of the business, ensuring high-performance instrumentation is installed, commissioned, and maintained to factory specifications. You'll support scientists in research, clinical, biotech, and industrial labs by:

  • Performing on-site installations, IQ/OQ, training, and documentation
  • Conducting preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs
  • Providing remote support, coordinating spare parts and loan units
  • Managing service cases via CRM and maintaining local inventory
  • Collaborating with product specialists and mentoring junior staff
  • Upholding safety standards and submitting timely expense reports
  • Travelling approximately 30% of the time across capital cities and regional sites

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree, diploma, or trade certification in Electronics, Mechatronics, Biomedical, Analytical Chemistry, or related field
  • 3–7 years' experience (QLD) or 6–12 years' experience (NSW) in field service or depot repair of lab/medical devices
  • Expertise in liquid handlers, HPLC/LC-MS, spectroscopy, or imaging systems highly regarded
  • Strong fault-finding skills across electromechanical, fluidics, optics, and software domains
  • Ability to read schematics, use diagnostic tools, and navigate CRM/ERP systems
  • Excellent communication, time management, and analytical thinking
  • Valid driver's licence and eligibility to work in Australia
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20kg and work in PC2/PC3 labs and cleanrooms.
