We invite candidates to apply for the position of EAL/D Mentor Teacher This will be a permanent part-time (0.5 FTE) role commencing in January 2026.

As an EAL/D Mentor Teacher, you will aspire to develop the capabilities of our 'Lakes Learners' with the passion and drive to generate knowledge, spark curiosity, build character and promote connection within our inclusive College Community.
Responsible to the Head of Secondary, you will develop, coordinate, and deliver a culturally appropriate individualised English language program to support and progress students through the NLLIA ESL Bandscales.
You will also be tasked with the caseload management for the EAL/D student cohort across the Secondary School.
Candidates must hold a current TESOL and ESL Bandscales qualifications or be working towards their attainment.
In your application, please include a covering letter (maximum 2 pages) which addresses the following key selection criteria along with a detailed resume.
- Demonstrated understanding of EAL/D progression and current NLLIA Bandscales including the application of these Bandscales for all new EAL/D students upon commencement at the College.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with teachers and Learning Assistants to ensure stakeholder engagement and the implementation of effective intervention strategies.
- Demonstrated understanding of various pedagogical approaches and age-appropriate strategies to cater for the receptive and expressive English language needs of secondary EAL/D students.
- Demonstrated ability to engage students in rich learning experiences that facilitate their language acquisition.
- Demonstrated experience building a culture of positive relationship management with students, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to the Uniting Church ethos and an inclusive College community.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications as needed for the role (i.e. Education and TESOL | Bandscales).
- Current Queensland College of Teachers registration.
