Lead Innovation in Construction Design

Due to company expansion, we're now seeking a Design Manager to lead our design strategy and execution across large-scale construction projects. This is a pivotal leadership role that blends technical expertise, project management, and stakeholder engagement to deliver high-quality, compliant, and constructible design outcomes.
What You'll Do:
• Lead the design process from concept to statutory approvals, ensuring alignment with client vision and project goals.
• Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary internal design team, fostering collaboration and performance.
• Coordinate external consultants, architects, and engineers to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Ensure all documentation complies with building codes, safety standards, and construction methodologies.
• Collaborate with pre-construction and project teams to align design with budget, sequencing, and timelines.
• Proactively manage design risks, approvals, and changes to maintain project integrity.
• Engage stakeholders across all levels to ensure clear communication and alignment.
• Contribute to tenders and business development with design insights and value-engineering strategies.
• Champion innovation and digital design practices (e.g., BIM) to enhance outcomes.
What You'll Bring:
• Tertiary qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a design management role.
• Strong understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC) – Building Classes 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.
• Proficiency in design and project management tools (e.g., REVIT, PROCORE).
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
