Key Responsibilities

The
Senior / Principal Automation Engineer
is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality design solutions for high voltage automation (specially REZ)-related projects, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and contributing to strategic planning and innovation.

  • Design of HV Substation Automation systems
  • Preparation and review of designs (concept to detail) and configuration of devices
  • Preparation and review of documentation (specifications and reports)
  • Perform and supervise automation software & hardware configuration and testing activities
  • FAT and SAT activities
  • Undertake site visits and commissioning activities
  • Prepare and deliver engineering reports, using adopted templates and sound engineering principles
  • Ensure compliance with quality procedures and processes through QA checks and audits
  • Proactively investigate tasks and requirements to ensure compliance with the Clients, Australian and International Standards
  • Assist and mentor junior team members


What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor of Engineering
  • +5 years' experience in any of the following: design, development/configuration, testing & commissioning of HV substation automation and/or process control, including demonstrated use of related processes and procedures
  • Have experience and competency in the commissioning of RTU and/or PLC, HMIs & network equipment, including Cooper Eaton, SEL, CGI Logica, Foxboro GE Grid, Schneider, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, ABB, Cisco
  • Demonstrated capability in design and document preparation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Motivated team player with the ability to work autonomously
  • Automation software and hardware configuration
  • Knowledge and experience of standard substation protocols DNP3 and Modbus is essential, IEC and IEC61850 (MMS & GOOSE) an advantage
  • ELV installation experience (cubicle wiring and cable termination) an advantage
  • Available to work away from the office i.e., site commissioning trips
  • Current Australian driver's license
  • NPER / RPEQ Preferred
  • CPEng Desirable
