We are seeking to appoint a Research Officer (Rare Diseases) at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies), University of Tasmania.

What you'll do:
- Provide research-related administration, including ethics approvals, annual reports, governance submissions and protocols.
- Assist with the development of data collection instruments (surveys, interview schedules etc), data collection protocols and data capture systems (eg: REDCap).
- Perform qualitative data analysis, including thematic and content analysis using MAXQDA
- Assist in collecting, inputting, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient data in research databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Ensure data accuracy, adherence to ethical guidelines, and compliance with research protocols through regular quality checks and documentation updates.
- Understand and adhere to relevant legislation, policies, and procedures including the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and UTAS Framework for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
What we're looking for:
- A degree level qualification in a relevant field, such as health science, nursing, allied health, or medicine.
- Experience supporting the implementation of community or hospital-based research projects and ability to meet deadlines and deliver milestones in a timely manner.
- Ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders including funding bodies and members of the rare disease community.
- Experience supporting ethics applications, writing protocols and community and stakeholder engagement and experience in operation of data capture systems (e.g., REDCap).
- Experience in mixed methods research methods (including obtaining qualitative research data and instruments for patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and experience in Qualitative Data Analysis software (e.g., MAXQDA).
- Experience in analysing data and contributing to write up of findings through reports or other dissemination outputs (e.g., academic manuscripts, presentations, infographics).
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 5 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $105,665 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $80,869 to $90,312 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
