Food Waste Supervisor

Green For You is a food waste solutions company based in Coorabell, on Bundjalung Country, Northern NSW. We are after a casual/part-time employee.

Green For You aims to close the loop on food waste by implementing solutions at a local scale. By addressing consumption patterns, challenging resource efficiency and implementing localised circular economy principles, we close the loop on food waste and mimick the natural cycles here on Earth.

Closing the loop on food waste allows for major reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, reductions in landfill waste and the production of a highly nutritious compost to regenerate our local soils.

The way we see it, food is an invaluable resource. Australia currently generates enough food for over seventy million people… one-third of this is wasted. Green For You has built its foundations on recovering, repurposing and re-utilising the nutritious and highly regenerative powers held within food.

We are on a journey to establish a regenerative food waste solution for our Northern Rivers. Our goal is to become one of the main providers of food waste collection, recovery and action, in this place we call home. We hope to provide long term, sustainable and purpose driven employment.

We currently collect food waste from 10 businesses across the Byron Shire and are looking for the ultimate all rounder to join our mission

JOB ROLE: FOOD WASTE SUPERVISOR AKA. LEGEND

At this point we are looking for a casual employee to collect food waste from our participating businesses ONCE a week.

The roll involves total involvement in the food waste solution. Our selected candidate will do most of the tasks involved with daily operations. Your tasks involve; the weekly waste pick up and run; collecting full bins and replacing them with empty ones. Waste processing and decontamination. Subsequent data collection and management. Cleaning empty bins and preparing the infrastructure for the following weeks run. You will have access to the company vehicle on that day(s) you are working.

There is potential for remarkable growth in this position, which could expand to 2-3 days in the near future.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

We are after an enthusiastic, motivated and passionate individual to come on board. We are after someone who is willing to take the lead and be there own best friend. We highly value communication and are after someone with the ability to hold their own, and hold themselves accountable when times get tough. Attention to detail is another must for us, we appreciate those who appreciate the little things.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

We need someone who has experience driving a manual vehicle. Our ideal candidate has experience using Microsoft office; word, excel etc. We are hoping to find someone that has ties to the local community, who has grown up locally or has family that lives in the area or has lived here more than a year. We need someone who shares our vision.

Hourly Rate is: Level 4 Waste Management Award and pay will include 12% super.
