ConnectSydney are looking for a new Environmental Manager to join the team at our Rockdale office

About the Role

ConnectSydney, a dynamic joint venture between Service Stream, Boral and Johnson Controls, will be delivering the Sydney Road Assets Performance Contract for the Harbour Zone in metropolitan Sydney.

About The Role:

The Environment Manager will be responsible for preparing all aspects of Environmental

Management, including development of Environmental Assessment documentation to meet

legislation and government requirements. The Environment Manager will be responsible to

ensure the Environmental Management System is implemented effectively in a cohesive, value added and integrated manner and in accordance with the Group EH&S requirements and international standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the program of Environmental Assessments documentation to support the delivery of construction and maintenance works.
  • Writing and reviewing Environmental Assessment documentation such as Review of Environmental Factors for projects.
  • Mentoring of Environmental Advisors to understand legislation, construction protocols and documentation.
  • Liaising with the TfNSW Environmental staff regarding compliance and assessment documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for systemic improvement in the Environmental Management System.
  • Providing technical subject matter expert advice to project staff on Environmental matters and requirements.
  • Monitor compliance audits against the Group Environment, Health & Safety Management System requirements.
  • Conducting inspections to ensure environmental controls are in place for construction works.
  • Carrying out incident investigations where required.
  • Ensure Group legislative requirements or compliance related business risks are identified.
  • Review and help improve the Environment, Health and Safety governance structure.

About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Environmental Management.
  • Lead Auditor in Environmental Management Systems highly desirable
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a role working on Environmental Assessments, including development of Review of Environmental Factors.
  • Proven experience with working with Transport for New South Wales Environmental team is highly desirable.
  • A working understanding of ISO14001 and its requirements is desirable.
  • Proven experience mentoring Environmental Advisors is highly desirable in Environmental Assessments.
  • Working understanding of TfNSW Specification G36 is desirable.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the civil construction projects industry essential.
  • Understanding of relevant environmental legislation related to construction essential
