Our Federal Government Client is an independent agency that promotes efficiency and increased transparency in the delivery and funding of public health and aged care services across Australia.

The Hospital Policy and Classification Branch. The Branch is responsible for developing activity based funding policy across the agency and working with clinical, technical and jurisdictional stakeholders to develop and maintain the clinical classifications, coding standards and business rules associated with the implementation of nationally consistent activity-based funding for public hospital services.

The Role:

The APS6 Technical Analyst's key responsibilities are to:

• Implement statistical methods, update documentation and maintain existing code resources within the Acute Care Classifications Section in partnership with an EL1 Technical Manager
• Understanding and analyze data collected from public and private hospitals, and other government bodies to design statistical models and answer complex policy questions.
• Provide specialist advice to various working groups, managing relationships, and working with stakeholders on technical issues.
• Preparing analytical working papers and technical documentation to communicate technical issues to key stakeholders.
• Supporting the ICD-10-AM/ACHI development team and the Classifications Section in providing quantitative evidence for proposed classification changes.
• Supporting the Executive in explaining the classification outcomes and other technical issues to external stakeholders.

The APS6 Technical Analyst's key capabilities will include the following:

• Demonstrated ability to undertake projects in an uncertain environment, including determination, tenacity and passion in the delivery of challenging projects.
• Strong technical and analytical skills, with high attention to detail. Experience in mathematical or statistical analysis and model development.
• Capacity to conduct sound analyses in an environment dominated by policy and stakeholder constraints. Ability to adopt a pragmatic approach to analysis and deliver results accordingly.
• Demonstrated experience in contributing to a high performing multi-disciplinary team.
• Critical thinking skills, including the ability to develop and assess the quality and applicability of complex analysis and modelling.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information that is appropriate for a range of audiences.

Highly Desirable

• Qualifications in mathematics, statistics or econometrics will be highly regarded.
• Qualifications or experience in data architecture and design of data models will be highly regarded.
• Experience in mathematical or statistical analysis, actuarial science, statistical model development, and experience using SAS, SQL, Microsoft Excel or Python data science libraries is desirable.
