Job Description

An excellent opportunity is available for a Reception and Catering Assistant (Casual) to join the Engagement & Communications Department at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the Position

As part of the Communications and Marketing team, the Reception and Catering Assistant will provide support to both the institute's catering and reception teams on a casual basis.

Selection Criteria
Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Highly developed interpersonal, oral communication and customer service skills.

  • Excellent written communication skills.

  • Experience in food and beverage service.

  • Relevant experience working in a customer service, reception or administration role.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Strong time management skills, ability to prioritise competing workloads to ensure timelines are met.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications – Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in Filemaker products.

  • Experience in telephone PABX operation and Alcatel-Lucent switchboard products.

  • Experience working with content management systems.

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol and Food Handling Certificate 1 certificates or the willingness to undertake as part of the role.

Personal Qualities:

  • Demonstrated ability to deal efficiently, professionally and courteously with people at different levels (both internal and external).

  • Demonstration of initiative; able to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.

  • Ability to work within a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.

  • High level of attention to detail.

  • An ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Ability to work after-hours and at short notice as required.

Terms of Appointment
This position is available in a casual capacity. Salary is Casual Professional Services Employee - CPSE 2 ($ Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
