We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Transport Modelling Expert to join our team in Sydney to support our growing business. This is an exciting time for you to join our high-performing Transport Modelling team where you will:

• Contribute to and lead the development of AIMSUN models for transport planning projects, ranging from precinct planning to major infrastructure assessments of regional significance
• Develop strong technical capabilities as part of multi-disciplinary teams to deliver modelling and assessment on road, public transport and active transport projects
• Assist with identifying new business opportunities and proactively keeping up to date with industry trends and interacting with our clients in technical practice areas of interest
• Utilise Python programming skills for automation, data analysis and model development to deliver high quality technical outputs
• Develop and maintain spatial analysis workflows using QGIS for network preparation, catchment analysis and results visualisation
• Contribute to transport strategies, impact assessments and advisory work across multiple transport modes
• Mentor junior staff, provide technical guidance and support the growth of the modelling and analytics team

Key Selection Criteria

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of transport modelling experience with proven success in infrastructure and planning project delivery (senior level)
• 8-12+ years for principal level consideration
• Expertise in AIMSUN microsimulation modelling (including Next, Live, API integrations and advanced scripting capabilities)
• SIDRA intersection analysis experience with SIDRA Network 10 (mandatory)
• Strong Python programming skills for automation, data analysis and analytics (essential)
• Transport modelling experience including network planning, scenario analysis, policy impact assessment and long term transport strategy development
• Demonstrated experience in traffic modelling such as mesoscopic modelling, microsimulation modelling and intersection modelling
• Authority engagement experience - proven track record working directly with TfNSW (or equivalent state transport authorities) on project approvals and able to present findings, with strong technical communication skills and ability to understand modelling assumptions

Highly Desirable

• Deep understanding of Australian transport planning practices and regulatory frameworks (NSW/QLD preferred)
• Experience in transport planning for cities, regions, corridors and multiple transport modes
• Strong technical report preparation including TfNSW compliance reports and ability to communicate complex transport analysis
• Experience in demand forecasting, network analysis, data workflow automation, and technical reporting
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to simplify complex data into clear and actionable insights
