Azooa is seeking expressions of interest for a highly skilled
Senior Linux Engineer
to support the
Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC)
at Army Headquarters. This role supports Army's digital integration and validation efforts by contributing directly to capability development and secure infrastructure operations within classified Defence environments.
About the Role
You will join the
LNIC Validate function
, which manages the Land Combat System Support Environment (LCSSE) and Battle Labs used for systems integration, testing, and experimentation across Army's digital ecosystem.
This is a
hands-on engineering position
focused on secure Linux infrastructure, automation, containerisation, compliance, and DevSecOps. You'll support the build, deployment, and sustainment of scalable and resilient systems in highly secure, classified, and occasionally disconnected environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain
Red Hat-based Linux systems
(physical and virtual) - Manage large-scale compute and storage infrastructure
- Design and implement security, network management, and access controls
- Configure
SELinux
, firewalls (iptables/nftables), and ISM-compliant environments - Develop and maintain automation scripts using
Bash
,
Python
, and
Ansible - Manage large Linux environments using tools like
Red Hat Satellite - Support integration, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Deploy and manage containerised services using:
- Docker
,
Podman
,
Kubernetes
,
OpenShift
,
OpenStack - Collaborate with DevSecOps, engineering, and environment teams
- Participate in Army field trials and technology validation exercises
- Maintain compliance documentation and support accreditation processes
- Standardise system deployments and enforce configuration baselines
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Advanced Linux system administration in
secure, mission-critical environments - Expertise in:
- Networking

storage
, and
virtualisation
(KVM, VMware) - Cybersecurity controls
and vulnerability management - Automation
, compliance, and orchestration tooling - Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills
- Experience integrating emerging technologies securely
Desirable Certifications & Experience
- RHCE

Security+
,
CISSP
, or equivalent - ITIL Foundation
- AWS
,
Azure
, or
GCP
certifications for hybrid/cloud environments - Experience working in classified, air-gapped, or Defence systems
- Familiarity with the
Information Security Manual (ISM)
Role Details

: On-site at LNIC, Symonston, ACT - Start
: 1 November 2025 - Contract
: 2 years (up to 230 days/year) - Extensions
: 2 x 12-month options (230 days/year) - Security Clearance
: NV1 (minimum) – NV2 upgrade may be required - Travel
: Some domestic and international travel may be required - Probation
: 3 months
