Role summary:
You are a passionate ocean-lover, visual and written storyteller, and community-builder who sees every piece of content as a chance to create conversation, connection and action. You'll help us build a movement around reef conservation - turning awareness into engagement, followers into advocates, and partners/creators into storytellers. You'll craft emotive, provocative and beautiful content, but also build the community around it: real people, real voices, real impact.
What you'll do:
- Develop a content strategy and calendar covering: social channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube), blog posts, and email marketing campaigns and flows.
- Produce creative outputs: short-form video, photo essays, social posts, long-form blog articles, email copy and templates.
- Manage our blog: ideate article topics, write or commission posts, optimise for SEO and audience relevance, publish and promote.
- Lead email marketing: build and manage subscriber lists, design flows (welcome, nurture, calls to action), set up segments, A/B subject lines, monitor deliverability.
- Grow and nurture the community: engage followers, moderate comments/interactions, encourage UGC, execute creator/partner takeovers, and build real loyalty.
- Collaborate with partners/influencers: co-create blog or email features, social campaigns, guest posts, to reach new audiences.
- Work hand-in-glove with PR & Communications Coordinator: integrate earned media and blog/email/social efforts, maintain consistent voice, amplify messaging across channels.
- Analyse performance across channels (social, blog traffic, email metrics): report monthly and adapt strategy to improve reach, engagement and conversions (e.g., newsletter sign-ups, donation actions).
- Occasional field content capture: shoot interviews/site visits, gather visuals for blog and email campaigns.
Skills & Experience:
- 4+ years (or equivalent portfolio) in creative written and visual content production, including blog writing and email marketing.
- Demonstrated experience managing blogs (topic ideation, SEO, publishing) and building email flows in an organisation or for clients.
- Strong storytelling ability across formats: social hook, video narrative.
- Savvy with community management and creator/influencer collaboration.
- Passion for ocean/reef conservation and ability to translate it into audience resonance.
- Proficient with short-form video, photo editing, design (Canva or similar), email marketing tools (Mailchimp, or equivalent), blog CMS.
- Data-driven: comfortable tracking metrics (open rates, CTR, blog traffic, social reach/engagement) and iterating strategy.
- Flexible, self-starter in NFP/lean-team environment; willing to travel/field-shoot as needed.
- Community feedback: brand voice recognised as authentic, inspiring, movement-building.
