The Opportunity

We are looking to expand our team and we're on the hunt for a driven and experienced Assistant Venue Manager to help lead operations at our vibrant Cellar Door venue.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their hospitality career, with more sociable working hours and the chance to work closely with premium wines and passionate people.

Our venue operates primarily during the day, with no gaming and evening shifts finishing by 10pm on Fridays with the occasional Saturday evening.

You'll be an integral part of a close-knit team and enjoy excellent working conditions and generous wine benefits.

Key Responsibilities

In this dynamic and hands-on role, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the smooth daily operations of our Cellar Door, helping particularly Friday to Sunday.
  • Capable of taking on full venue responsibilities in the absence of the Cellar Door Manager.
  • Coordinating and managing all external vendors for events and venue operations.
  • Driving customer traffic and sales into the venue through strategic planning, marketing initiatives, and community engagement.
  • Managing and executing private functions, group bookings, and corporate events.
  • Planning and delivering wine tastings, working alongside our winemaking team to provide a memorable guest experience.
  • Leading and motivating staff, including some rostering and payroll tasks.
  • Opening/closing procedures and cash reconciliation.
  • Stock ordering.
  • Ensuring outstanding customer service and fostering a warm, welcoming environment.

What We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Be energetic, self-motivated, and results-driven.
  • Will have previous hospitality experience.

Wine experience is considered advantageous but not necessary.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Thrive in a team-focused environment with a hands-on, can-do attitude.
  • Have exceptional attention to detail in customer service, sales, and presentation.
  • Hold a valid Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate and Responsible Person's Badge.

Position Details

This role is offered on a full-time salaried basis, however we will consider permanent part-time for experienced candidates who meet all key criteria.
