About Us
Central Desert Training Pty Ltd was established in 2004 to institute, coordinate and deliver specialist training services to Indigenous Australians from Central Australia. The business focuses on training Indigenous Young People and Adults from both remote and urban communities who are commencing employment or are employed in the mainstream workforce. Training provided includes intensive pre-employment programs, literacy and numeracy training and specialist mentoring services.
About the Job
Central Desert Training are seeking a suitably qualified person to deliver training and mentoring services across a number of remote communities in the Barkly Region, Northern Territory for the Core Skills training program.
The program works with participants employed by the Barkly Regional Council and other remote community employers. The program also includes an intensive pre-employment program that targets young people seeking to commence employment in their community.
Applicants must be prepared to deliver a minimum of 35 weeks annually in a number of remote communities across the Barkly Region.
Remaining weeks are typically spent at point of hire however flexible conditions may be arranged. Applicants must have 4x4 driving experience and hold or obtain a current criminal history check or ochre card.
Applicants will hold a current Training and Assessment qualification or be prepared to obtain one in a short period of time. Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history with knowledge and/or experience of Aboriginal communities in Central Australia is essential.
About You
We are seeking an innovative, suitably qualified and experienced Trainer to join our team. You will have experience working with Aboriginal communities ideally in Central Australia. To be successful in this position, you will have strong relationship, networking and communication skills - both verbal and written. Your key strengths include resilience working in remote settings, travelling long distances, a self-starter who thrives on being autonomous and working in an environment that requires you to be adaptable and flexible. You will enjoy enhancing a person's competence through development of their strengths and encouraging a person's ability to use their own resources (both inner and outer) in a productive and beneficial manner. Travel allowance applies to work conditions.
