Job Details

The Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) is seeking an experienced Senior Server Engineer to join the Infrastructure Services team.

The role will focus on BAU processes and operational support for Windows Server operating systems, including troubleshooting, escalation, and major incident resolution.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing support for Windows Server environments

  • Manage and maintain Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, PKI, ADFS, File and Print, DFS, and GPO with AGPM

  • Monitor and patch systems using Microsoft System Centre products and Intune (SCOM, SCCM/MECM)

  • Apply cyber security tools and methodologies, including application whitelisting, host-based firewalls, vulnerability scanners, and device control

  • Participate in incident resolution, escalation management, and troubleshooting of critical infrastructure


Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria

  1. Detailed Windows Server understanding and experience including Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, PKI, ADFS, File and Print, DFS and GPO with Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM) 60%

  2. Experience with systems monitoring and patching in Microsoft System Centre products and Intune (SCOM, SCCM/MECM) 20%

  3. Understanding of Cyber Security tools and methodologies including application whitelisting, host-based firewalls, vulnerability scanners and device control 20%

Desirable Criteria

  1. Experience managing Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) servers including template deployment, user and resource administration

  2. Understanding of Australian Government Cyber Security requirements, processes and artefacts including ISM, Essential 8 and ACSC hardening guides

  3. Strong experience in writing technical documentation including SOPs and design documentation

  4. Experience implementing and managing Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions such as CyberArk, including vaulting credentials, session monitoring, and integration with enterprise authentication systems; experience with enterprise identity management solutions
