About the role

This critical role requires the audio-visual (AV) Service Technician to provide essential, expert AV support across multiple secure locations. Operating exclusively within a highly restricted Agency environment, you're responsible for ensuring the flawless, secure operation of critical AV equipment—tackling everything from preventative maintenance to complex system resolution. Success demands a strategic blending of skills: profound technical mastery, rigorous documentation standards, and polished client relationship abilities. The ultimate objective is maintaining peak daily AV functionality while proactively steering continual service improvement (CPI) for this portfolio.

What you'll be doing

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and fix complex AV faults, ensuring secure and reliable systems.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, urgent repairs, and site checks as per our contract agreements.
  • Handle AV equipment repairs and calibration on-site, arranging outside help when needed.
  • Train users on how to comfortably operate various AV systems.
  • Keep clear and detailed records of all your service work.
  • Work closely with the Helpdesk and manager to schedule tasks, share knowledge, and ensure security and contract compliance.
  • Offer expert advice to clients on system upgrades and collaborate with our engineering team on new designs.
  • Share your ideas for continuous improvement, including CPI.
  • Provide on-call support to quickly respond to critical incidents.

Essential Skills and Requirements
  • A/V System Mastery: Proven experience working with complex audio/video equipment, including expert knowledge of fault-finding, LAN/WAN, AV schematics, and digital sound processors.
  • Control System Familiarity: Confidence working with video conferencing and control platforms (e.g., AMX, Crestron, Extron, Polycom).
  • Technical Qualification: A relevant trade qualification in electronics, communications, or audio visual; equivalent demonstrated industry experience will also be considered.
  • Logistics: Must hold a current valid Driver's License and access to own vehicle.
  • Site Access: must be of Australian Citizenship, as this role requires access to secure agency sites. You must be willing to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance (Baseline or higher).
