Job Description

Your opportunity to join our Technology team

Reporting to the GM Business Technology Services, this role will lead and manage cloud infrastructure strategy and DevOps practices across the organisation, driving the design, implementation and optimisation of scalable, secure and cost-effective cloud solutions while building a high-performing cloud, infrastructure and DevOps practice.

This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise (preferably AWS) to accelerate cloud practice maturity, reduce legacy infrastructure risk and support the modernisation of business applications.

We will consider applicants in NSW, QLD or SA.

Key responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive cloud and DevOps strategies aligned with business and technology objectives
  • Define infrastructure architecture standards and best practices across multi-cloud environments
  • Lead cloud migration and re-architecture of legacy platforms
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on technology roadmap and budget planning
  • Establish metrics and KPIs for infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost optimisation

Technical Oversight:

  • Oversee cloud architecture and automation frameworks
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
  • Implement and govern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
  • Drive containerisation and orchestration strategies
  • Establish monitoring, logging, and observability solutions for production environments

Operational Excellence:

  • Implement and manage SRE principles and SLOs
  • Lead post-incident reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Establish change management processes and release engineering practices
  • Optimise cloud utilisation costs, aligning resources to business needs
  • Ensure compliance with security frameworks, audit requirements, and industry standards

Team Management:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of infrastructure and cloud engineers
  • Conduct performance reviews, career development planning, and technical skills assessment
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence
  • Recruit top-tier talent and establish competitive compensation structures
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration between technology operations, applications, service delivery and security teams

Key Stakeholders and Engagement areas:

  • Proactive engagement and collaboration across broader Technology teams (Service Delivery, Information Security, Business Applications, Data)
  • Regular engagement and expectation setting with key business stakeholders (GMs, senior management) across operations, strategy, finance, sales & marketing and HR
  • Ongoing management of key external vendor relationships and partners (AWS, Microsoft, Palo Alto, Cisco, etc.)
  • Ensure customer and industry alignment through regular interactions across FMCG ecosystem

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering (AWS preferable)
  • 3+ years of people management experience leading technical teams
  • Proven track record migrating large-scale production environments into public cloud
  • Proven experience in transforming infrastructure operating models and practices
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and executive audiences
  • Strong project management capabilities with experience in Agile methodologies
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation
