About The Team

Murdoch Active offers sport and recreation programs, facilities, and services that promote health and well-being for students, staff, and the wider Murdoch University community. It also supports the University's teaching, research, and commercial initiatives.

Its goal is to enhance the student experience, foster community engagement, and strengthen connections with the University through inclusive and representative activities.

Programs and services are delivered via the Fitness Centre, Sports and Recreation Hall, indoor/outdoor courts, and external playing fields.

Your New Role  
The Fitness and Wellbeing Coordinator supports the Sports and Recreation Manager in managing daily operations of Murdoch Active's fitness facilities and wellbeing programs across campus. This role oversees a team of Sports Officers, Group Fitness Instructors, the WIL Lead, and student volunteers to plan, deliver, and develop programs aligned with the Murdoch Active Strategic Plan.

Your Key responsibilities will include –

  • Manage daily operations of Murdoch Active's fitness facilities and supervise a team of staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality service delivery and program execution.
  • Develop and implement engaging fitness and wellbeing programs, coordinate timetables and events, and collaborate with Marketing and stakeholders to attract and retain members.
  • Oversee budgeting, reporting, and financial sustainability initiatives, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

This Fixed Term (1 Year) | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) parental leave coverage role attracts a remuneration of $89,396 – $96,594 (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Sport and Exercise Science), or Certificate IV in Fitness and Management with 10+ years' experience, including personal training and coaching
  • Proven ability in staff supervision, mentoring, and stakeholder/customer relationship management
  • Strong organisational, time management, and problem solving skills, with experience in budgeting, reporting, and resource management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and competence in using computers, membership databases, and event coordination tools
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures in sports settings, with current First Aid and Working with Children clearance.
