Executive Director, Training and Workforce Innovation
6 days ago
About The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Executive Director, Training & Workforce Innovation leads AUSMASA's national portfolio for training product development, workforce pathways, and system capability uplift. Sitting on the executive leadership team, this role shapes how industry needs are reflected in qualifications, skill sets, micro-credentials, non-accredited learning, and how those solutions are implemented across the VET system.
This is a strategic and delivery-focused portfolio, one that connects industry insight, training system reform, and on-the-ground implementation. You'll work closely with industry leaders, RTOs, unions, and workforce representatives to co-design capability solutions that respond to structural shifts like electrification, automation, decarbonisation, and the rise of digital operations and advanced manufacturing.
If you are passionate about lifting capability across a national workforce, supporting people through transition, and modernising how learning happens in and for industry, this is a role with purpose and reach.
What you'll lead
- The design and development of qualifications, skill sets, micro-credentials, and other training products that reflect contemporary industry need.
- Workforce pathways that support upskilling, reskilling, mobility, and lifelong learning.
- Implementation support with RTOs and employers to ensure training can be delivered well, consistently, and at scale.
- The ongoing evolution of the VET system, including qualifications reform, quality improvement, and strengthening work-based learning models.
- Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) and industry co-design processes that bring diverse voices into decision-making.
- Cross-functional collaboration across AUSMASA to drive integrated impact aligned to the 2025–2028 Strategic Plan.
About You
You are a senior leader in vocational education, workforce development, learning design, industry capability, or related reform.
You bring
- Deep understanding of VET structures, training product development, and system reform.
- A track record shaping or delivering training solutions with industry.
- Confidence leading cross-functional and distributed teams in complex environments.
- Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to support shared ownership, not just consultation.
- A systems mindset. You think beyond products, into pathways, workforce transitions, and capability uplift.
- A personal commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and meaningful workforce participation.
You may have worked in industry, TAFE, a large RTO, a peak association, government, consulting, or major corporate capability functions (L&D). What matters most is that you can bridge industry need, learning design, and practical implementation.
Why join AUSMASA
At AUSMASA, you'll be part of a collaborative, purpose-driven organisation shaping Australia's future workforce. We offer:
- A supportive, flexible hybrid work environment
- Meaningful, high-impact work with industry and government partners
- Professional development and genuine career growth opportunities
- A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing
We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage you to reach out if you require adjustments or additional support during the recruitment process.
If you're motivated by meaningful change, collaborative leadership, and workforce transformation, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply now by submitting your CV and a cover letter outlining your interest in the role and how your skills align with the key focus areas.
