We have an opportunity available for a Defence Engineering Service Network (DESN) Portfolio Manager to support us in this contract. This is a permanent full-time position that could be based at any key sites across the Northern Territory including Darwin, Larrakeyah, Robertson and Tindal.

About the role
In this leadership role, you will oversee the strategic planning, execution, and governance of multiple engineering and ICT programs within the Defence Engineering and Secure Networks (DESN) domain. You will ensure alignment with Defence capability objectives, managing cross-functional teams, and driving the delivery of secure, resilient and scalable networked systems across classified environments.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing the DESN portfolio, ensuring delivery of complex engineering and ICT projects within scope, budget and schedule.
- Developing and maintaining portfolio roadmaps aligned with Defence strategic priorities and capability lifecycle.
- Overseeing governance, risk management, and compliance across all DESN initiatives.
- Coordinating with Defence stakeholders, contractors, and technical teams to ensure integration and interoperability of systems.
- Ensuring alignment with Defence Capability Lifecycle, ICT policies, and cyber security frameworks.
- Supporting workforce planning, mentoring, and development of engineering and project staff.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience in Defence portfolio or program management, with a proven track record in leading multi-disciplinary teams across secure ICT and engineering domains.
- Strong understanding of Defence procurement, capability lifecycle, and technical regulations.
- Experience with secure network systems, DBSTP platforms, and classified environments.
- High-level stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Bachelor degree qualifications in Engineering, ICT, Project Management or related discipline.
- Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Valid driver's licence.
You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
