About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to and promoting the development, alignment, attainment and review of the mission and strategic goals for Brisbane Catholic Education
  • Working closely with others to promote and develop student wellbeing, emotional resilience, positive relationships and a sense of community
  • Collaborating with other role holders such as the Campus Minister or APRE in supporting the faith, spiritual and pastoral needs of students
  • Provide appropriate referrals for students in accordance with school approved protocols and processes
  • Promote positive partnerships within and beyond the school community.
About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Contributing and working with others in partnership for the common goal of students' wellbeing
  • Supporting students' emotional resilience, positive relationships, and spiritual needs
  • Key knowledge of support services to be able to assess and provide appropriate referrals for students
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships within the school and local community, promoting partnerships that support students' holistic development
  • Demonstrate understanding of Catholic values, emotional intelligence, and crisis management to address the spiritual, emotional, and academic needs of students
  • Certificate IV qualification in Youth Work or Pastoral Care or related field
    • The certificate or equivalent qualification must include two units of competency in 'making appropriate referrals', 'mental health', 'working with young people or 'cultural awareness and support'.
    • Completion of the professional learning package, 'Responding to and Preventing Cyberbullying' delivered by the Office of the eSafety Commissioner within three months of commencing and every two years thereafter
    • For government funded programs, apply for a temporary waiver through Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC), if the above qualifications are not met.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
