The Role:

This is a rare chance to lead a significant project delivering critical airfield upgrades on the Cocos Islands. You will oversee the full delivery of the airfield works package, managing everything from planning and subcontractor engagement through to completion and handover. The role involves coordinating resources, driving safety and quality outcomes, and ensuring commercial targets are met while working in a remote and challenging environment. Operating on a 2:1 FIFO roster, you will work closely with stakeholders and a dedicated project team, using your leadership and technical skills to achieve results and deliver lasting benefits for the local community.

About you:You are an experienced project leader with a strong background in civil construction and a proven ability to manage complex works from start to finish. You are confident working in remote or challenging environments and understand the importance of planning safety and quality at every stage. You have a sound knowledge of contracts and commercial management and are comfortable building strong relationships with clients subcontractors and your team. You lead by example supporting and mentoring those around you while keeping delivery on track. A relevant tertiary qualification and previous experience managing sizeable civil or airfield packages will set you up for success in this role.

*Skills & Experience to be successful:*

  • Proven experience managing complex civil or infrastructure projects from planning through to handover
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, and commercial requirements on large scale works
  • Confident working in remote or challenging environments with tight timelines
  • Ability to lead, mentor and develop high performing project teams
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and subcontractor management
  • Solid knowledge of contracts, specifications and industry standards
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction or related discipline
  • Experience delivering airfield or defence projects highly regarded
