Bass High School is a co–educational 7–12 school of over 800 students. A Support Unit provides programs for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and students with autism. The school serves a diverse student population including a large portion from a non–English speaking background. The school's Aboriginal Education Officer supports our many First Nations students. Equity funding targets school improvement and innovation supporting teachers to collaborate and share quality practice. Our teaching staff has a strong commitment to improving student learning and engagement through quality teaching, collective wellbeing, professional learning and a focus on literacy and numeracy. Parents, carers and a vibrantly diverse community play a valued role in the life of the school supported by the Parents and Citizens' Association and the Community Liaison Officer. The school Learning & Support Team is led by our Head Teacher Learning & Support and provides targeted support to students across the school with complex additional learning needs.
Selection CriteriaApproval to teach students with learning and support needs and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers
Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies to develop and implement effective learning and wellbeing adjustments through Behaviour Support Plans, Personalised Learning and Support Plans, and Personalised Learning Plans.
Proven ability to analyse and use student performance data to inform intervention and monitor progress.
ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
