This recruitment pool will run for a period of twelve months and may be used to fill ongoing fixed term contracts and permanent opportunities.
Currently, there is one permanent position available for filling commencing March 2026. The pool will also be used to cover periods of leave for these positions over the duration of the pool.

About The Role
In recognition of the unique needs of young people, Correctice Services established the Young People Directorate in mid 2024. This Directorate is responsible for providing youth justice services in the community and managing youth detention facilities. Since becoming a stand-alone directorate, the Young People Directorate have commenced the implementation of an enhanced model of care. This model reflects best practice in Youth Justice and focuses on rehabilitation through a trauma-informed, therapeutic approach.

Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, the two Director Youth Operations positions are responsible for leading the Young People Directorate across Metropolitan and Regional Western Australia.

Given the renewed strategic focus of the Young People Directorate, we are looking for strong leaders, who embrace innovation and who will drive and support change in line with the Corrective Services and Young People Strategy We are seeking candidates with a commitment to operating in a trauma informed and culturally safe and responsive manner. An ability to develop strong and collaborative partnerships, to achieve the best outcomes for young people involved in the justice system will be essential.

Eligibility
Special Requirements

  • Both Director positions may be required to participate in an on-call roster
  • The Director Youth Regional Operations will be required to travel across regional WA on a regular rotational basis, and will be required to drive vehicles and travel via airplane including light aircraft

Permanent positions
– To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.

WWC positions
– In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people, you must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.

Pool Recruitment
This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent and/or fixed term, full time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
