Position Descriptor:
Amata Anangu School is one of eight Anangu schools situated in the far northwest corner of South Australia in the Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands. Amata is one of the largest communities in the APY Lands. The Amata community is in the western Musgrave Ranges, west of the Stuart Highway, it is situated approximately 500 kilometres south west of Alice Springs and just south of the Northern Territory border.
The school has a strong focus on developing a bilingual curriculum that supports the SACE achievement and education and employment pathways for Anangu while developing lifelong learning skills through responsive, trauma informed pedagogies. At Amata we focus on building on the passions and capabilities of individual learners to develop innovative learning pathways that meet learner needs.
The site is co-led by the Principal and Anangu Co-ordinator. Pitjantjatjara is the language of the community and Anangu Educators assist through the school. The ability and disposition to work collaboratively with our team is important.
