Position Descriptor:

Indulkana Anangu School is located on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in the far north of South Australia. Following our school values of kunpu (strong), wanganara (respectful), and nintiringkupai (smart learners), we provide education for children and young people living in Indulkana community.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Teacher (1.0 FTE) to join our team. The Preschool teacher will work closely in a team, lead by our Early Years Coordinator, with our Early Years Anangu Educators, Junior Primary Teacher, and Families as First Teachers (FAFT) SSO. In this position, the teacher will deliver the Early Years Learning Framework in a culturally responsive environment, planning alongside Anangu educators to deliver strong learning outcomes in both English and First Language. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching in a remote bilingual setting. The school supports a two-way, culturally focused approach to teaching and learning.

Iwantja Arts Centre, located in the community, offers beautiful art pieces and stories to explore. Indulkana is well-resourced and includes a community store and health clinic, with its proximity of approximately 50 km to Marla, situated just off the Stuart Highway.

Can you describe how you set up intentional play-based learning environments and how you adapt and change learning experiences to keep children engaged?

How will you honour a bilingual approach in the Early Years space, working with children to build their growing vocabulary in both English and First Language? How will you collaborate with Anangu Educators to achieve these outcomes?

How do you report and document learning to ensure families can actively engage with and understand their children's progress? How do you approach challenging conversations around student development?

Financial Incentives:

In addition to the salary, the following financial incentives apply:

Country Zone Allowance of approximately $10,000

Locality Allowance of approximately $10,000

Fully Subsidised Accommodation, including all utilities

Removal and Relocation Expenses

Travel and Accommodation Costs for medical and dental treatment

Wellness Check:

To ensure employer compliance with duty of care responsibilities given the unique environment of the APY Lands, a wellness check will be conducted for any Teacher nominated for this position prior to any offer of employment.
