Our Palliative Care Service is seeking a compassionate and experienced Bereavement Team Coordinator to lead and nurture our dedicated Bereavement Team, making a meaningful difference to carers and families across the Central Coast.

About The Opportunity
As the Bereavement Coordinator, you will lead a small team of bereavement counsellors (1.6 FTE) and provide specialist counselling to individuals and families experiencing grief following the death of a loved one. Based at Long Jetty, with work across the Coast, this role plays a vital part in ensuring families receive the emotional support and continuity of care they need.

In This Rewarding Role, You Will

• Coordinate and oversee the Bereavement Counselling Service, including workflow, triage of referrals, and professional supervision.
• Provide direct clinical counselling for individuals and groups experiencing complex or prolonged grief, using evidence-based models of care.
• Mentor and develop team members, supporting their growth and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary Palliative Care team to enhance holistic care delivery.
• Contribute to service improvement, research, and professional development initiatives.

Working hours are
Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
, with flexibility for full-time or job share arrangements.

About You
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate leader who brings both clinical skill and empathy to their work. The ideal candidate will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the AASW, as well as a current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence and Working With Children Check.
• Proven experience providing counselling and support for individuals and families experiencing complex grief or bereavement.
• Strong leadership and team coordination skills, including staff supervision and professional development.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
• A demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous learning, and the values of NSW Health.
