
Finance Process Analyst

The Finance Process Analyst plays a key role in documenting, analysing, and improving finance business processes to support the development of the Finance Operating Model at the University of Queensland. Working closely with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts, this position will assess the impact of system and policy changes on finance practices, design and document new processes, and contribute to the delivery of consistent and efficient outcomes. Reporting to the Director of Finance Operations and Business Transformation, the Finance Process Analyst is part of the Finance Strategic Projects team, a collaborative group focused on driving process improvement and supporting business transformation across Finance and Business Services.
Key responsibilities will include:
Collaborating with process owners and SMEs to document, analyse, and improve finance processes, ensuring alignment with the Finance Operating Model.
Assessing the impacts of system and policy changes on end-to-end finance processes and recommending solutions that balance efficiency, risk, and user experience.
Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and supporting consistent process documentation across Finance and Business Services.
Supporting the Finance Transformation team with business process readiness, change management, and benefits realisation activities.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 12 months at HEW Level 8.
About YouYou are a motivated professional with strong expertise in finance operations or business process analysis, ready to contribute to process improvement and transformation in a complex organisational environment. Whether your background is rooted in finance or IT, you bring a proven ability to analyse, design, and implement effective processes while engaging with diverse stakeholders.
You will also demonstrate:
Postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards them) and/or extensive relevant experience in finance or business process analysis.
Proven experience in finance operations, internal controls, and financial systems within large and complex organisations (ideally higher education or public sector).
A strong understanding of business process analysis and mapping, with the ability to deliver practical and effective solutions.
Capability to work with complex systems, processes, and organisational structures.
Excellent written communication skills, with a track record of producing clear and precise documentation, business specifications, and SOPs.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement innovative solutions.
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a focus on building relationships and achieving outcomes with diverse stakeholders.
The ability to independently manage priorities and deliver results within deadlines in a dynamic environment.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, etc.
