ICT Business Analyst (x5)

Canberra (Onsite Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days from home)

Initial 12-month contract + extensions

triniti is partnering with a major Federal Government client in Canberra to source
experienced ICT Business Analysts
to support the delivery of new and existing ICT projects across multiple teams within the Information Management and Technology Division. These roles will contribute to critical systems and platforms that serve as the source of truth for the Agencies' operational policies and procedures.

This opportunity suits Business Analysts with strong analytical, stakeholder engagement, and agile delivery skills who thrive in complex government environments.

Overview

As an ICT Business Analyst, you will engage with business areas, facilitate workshops, define and manage requirements, and produce standard analysis artefacts. You'll play a key role in guiding teams using Agile methodologies, supporting digital transformation initiatives, and ensuring that technology solutions deliver tangible business value.

Role Responsibilities


• Lead business analysis activities across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and ICT strategies.


• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement to gather and validate business needs.


• Develop and maintain artefacts including "as-is"/"to-be" process maps, user stories, business rules, and benefit realisation plans.


• Support Agile teams in defining user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog management.


• Contribute to feasibility assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and business process improvement initiatives.


• Provide clear documentation and communication across both business and technical teams.


• Undertake data modelling, user experience analysis, and support continuous improvement of BA practices and tools.

Your Background


• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Business Analyst in software delivery or transformation projects.


• Proven ability to drive business engagement and contribute to organisational reform.


• Experience working across complex ICT environments involving bespoke, off-the-shelf, and cloud-based systems.


• Skilled in producing standard analysis artefacts — process maps, BPMN models, user stories, and requirements documentation.


• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, tools (such as Azure DevOps), and iterative delivery environments.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.

Must hold or be able to obtain an
NV1 Security Clearance

Highly Regarded


• Experience with data modelling, user experience analysis, and methods & tools (as per SFIA framework).


• Training or certification such as BABOK v3.0, BA-Cube, or BPMN Fundamentals.

Location:
Canberra-based role. Hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office, 2 days from home) subject to Agency's discretion. Interstate or remote applicants will not be considered.
