Engineering Designer/Draftsperson

Mainetec, Mackay Qld, is looking to grow our on-site drafting capability with an additional draftsperson.

Working in our small local team with access to our global engineering specialists, you will be making a valued contribution to our manufacturing operations while deepening your skills and experience.

What are we looking for?

Mandatory

• Directly relevant qualifications (eg. Diploma in Engineering Design/Drafting) or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 3–5 years of drafting experience using solid modeling design packages.
• Proven expertise with SolidWorks and CREO or similar 3D CAD platforms.
• Proficiency in either SolidWorks or CREO (or similar 3D CAD platform) is sufficient to meet our technical requirements.
• Strong background in mechanical drafting within an engineering or manufacturing environment, particularly involving heavy plate design
• Exposure to reverse engineering and ability to interpret physical components into detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Basic exposure to reverse engineering practices is required to support component analysis and drawing development.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as plate forming, welding, machining, and assembly, aligned with design-for-manufacture principles.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Must have existing work rights in Australia as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Highly Desirable

• Previous involvement in bucket repairs, wear packages, or mining attachment refurbishments
• Familiarity with network-based file and data management systems.
• Understanding of welding standards and ability to recommend weld details based on plate thickness, joint type, and material grade
