
Advocacy and Government Relations Officer

- High level administrative skills to effectively centralise and manage information, correspondence and reporting.
- Support the review and development of Council's advocacy strategies and campaigns and delivery of objectives, priorities and actions that supports the Executive, Mayor and Councillors advance key advocacy issues.
- Coordinate and prepare correspondence, briefings notes, fact sheets, publications, presentations, submissions, online content and other materials to support Mayor, CEO and Senior Leaders.
- Support delivery of Council's government relations program including developing targeted engagement plan, scheduling meetings, preparing briefing materials, coordinating follow up actions and maintain stakeholder/actions register.
- Tertiary qualifications in policy development, political science, international relations, communications or other related field with experience, or a lesser formal qualification with substantial experience.
- Relevant experience in advocacy, government relations and/or communications, policy development, and grant attraction.
- Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders at all levels with credibility and tact and foster collaboration to drive outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and an ability to distil large amounts of complex information for a variety of internal and external audiences and ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Demonstrated experience and capability to manage administrative and planning aspects of projects along with strong project management skills.
