We are searching for an intelligent, friendly person with exceptional attention to detail. The successful applicant will be working alongside our existing Finance/Accounting team of 2, so that day to day operations are supported in an efficient and responsible manner.

If you're the Finance Officer we are looking for, you'll be detailed, organised, warm, diligent and want to work in a fast growing business.  You'll take pride in your work, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and feel at ease liaising with key stakeholders.  You'll be comfortable working autonomously and feel at ease meeting reporting deadlines and equally be comfortable contributing to the team. You'll like looking for new innovative ways to improve business efficiency and effectiveness and you'll have a desire to learn and grow.

Due to our significant growth, we need someone to still be hands-on with the day to day, but progress in to an expanded role over time and growing in to the Finance Manager role.

You will be good at managing and navigating the Accounts inbox and prioritising work.

You will need previous experience of working as an all-rounder/finance role within a small to medium sized business and will have demonstrable capability managing the internal finance function of the organisation.

The tasks the role will cover (and shared with the team), will include:

  • Payables management:

  • Supplier Payments

  • Supplier Invoice Reconciliations to Purchase Orders

  • Liaising with Suppliers if required

  • Cashflow Management

  • Co-ordination & Schedule payments

  • Payroll

  • Fortnightly payroll

  • Superannuation

  • Workcover

  • Receivables

  • Invoice & Statement management

  • Matching Invoices with our POS system
  • Hire Invoice Management
  • Account Customer followup

  • Refund processing

  • Bank Reconciliations

  • Daily bank transactions reconciled

  • Monthly Bank reconciliations

  • Price Updates

  • Assistance with Bulk uploads of Supplier pricing in our system

  • You must be PROFICIENT with more advanced Excel functions for lookups and formula based calculations. You will be working on data sets with thousands of rows for each supplier.

  • Overall

  • Expense Management across the entire business

  • Efficiency Improvement
  • Weekly and Monthly reporting to to Senior Management team
  • Working with external accountants

Work experience and skills

To be successful in the role you will be able to show proven experience and skills or willingness to learn for the following:-

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in SME environment
  • Fluent verbal and written English
  • High level competency with MYOB
  • Advanced computer literacy – Strong/Advanced Excel
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with all stakeholders
  • Proven experience managing a company's finance operations
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised and on own initiative
  • Experience with the Retail Express point-of-sale system would be advantageous, but not required
  • Any experience with Hire Management software would also be advantageous

The position available will be based at our Balwyn Showroom.

You will be trained to have a high level overview of the products we sell in order to be able to work with our suppliers accurately.
