Our Pharmacy Team plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and evidence-based medication therapy as part of their holistic care. SESLHD Pharmacy Services is an extended hours service and our team is operational seven days per-week.
The role
To be an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team, assisting in the provision and further development of quality pharmacy services to assist patients and clients in their health and wellbeing needs. The role provides technical support to the Pharmacy Service in all areas of pharmacy practice, including drug distribution duties, hospital pharmacy production and dispensing activities.
The role will be a lead in the specialist area/s of Pharmacy Operations including automation and technology. The Lead Pharmacy Technician- Pharmacy Operations will work closely with the Team Leader Pharmacist Operations and the SESLHD Procurement Team to provide a high quality, safe, efficient and effective medicines distribution and dispensing service. The role includes coordination, training and technical support for staff working in the dispensary and Automated Dispensing Cabinet Service.

Selection Criteria
- Successful completion of a nationally recognised Pharmacy Technician Certificate Course at Certificate Level IV or has qualifications deemed by the employer to be equivalent.
- Demonstrated pharmacy experience and competency in performing complex tasks under supervision of a Pharmacist in specialist areas of practice such as, but not limited to, cytotoxic drug reconstitution, sterile production or clinical trials.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use workplace information technology, experience with hospital pharmacy computer systems (e.g. iPharmacy), electronic medical records and clinical applications.
- Demonstrated high level customer service, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving, organisational, time management skills and ability to prioritise work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to effect practice change.
- Demonstrated involvement in quality improvement activities, writing guidelines and safe work practices.
- Demonstrated skills in supervising, co-ordinating and training staff.
