THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at Royal Randwick Racecourse and reporting to the Senior Event Manager, the Event Manager will be primarily responsible for the co-ordination of race day, and non-race day functions and events held at Royal Randwick and Warwick Farm Racecourse. This position is a 12-month Maternity Leave cover.

Key objectives of the role include:

- Planning and coordination of events at Royal Randwick and Warwick Farm to ensure seamless event delivery, exceptional customer service and client satisfaction.
- Plan, coordinate and organise the delivery of products and services provided by external contractors including contract cleaners, security and audio-visual technicians.
- Manage invoicing and payments for race day and race day events.
- Manage and implement install of operational infrastructure, theming and production requirements for Autumn and Spring Carnival events.
- Responsible for the communication between the ATC, client and event suppliers for successful staging of race days and events.
- Identify and communicate the needs of internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful events.
- Oversee the activities of event organisers and their staff to ensure compliance with Club policies and legislative requirements such as OH&S and RSA and HACCP.
- Manage temporary infrastructure for carnival.
- Provide a range of regular and ad hoc reports to Management, including individual event budgets with measurable results and recommendations for operational improvements.
- Perform other duties as directed by the General Manager Hospitality, Operations & Events.

THE RIGHT FIT

To be successful in the role, the right fit will possess:

- Experience in coordinating events, in particular Exhibitions; special events, with a reputation for quality customer service.
- Interpretation and application of legislation relevant to food and beverage services such as HACCP, RSA and OH&S.
- Sound oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong planning and time management skills.
- Sound conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience improving the performance of a team of people in a customer service environment.
- Computer literacy and skills in Word, Excel, Ungerboeck, Humanforce, Visio, Task retail and electronic sign systems.
- The incumbent will also be trained and qualified in the areas of OH&S, HACCP and RSA if not already qualified.
