The Y Northern Territory has exciting opportunities available across our services within Alice Springs, NT for both Certificate III and Diploma qualified Early Childhood Educators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a positive role model to children within the centre, providing encouragement and support on a daily basis.
  • Implement the policies, procedures and routines of the service
  • Actively supervise and make observations of children in care
  • Treat all children and stakeholders with respect and dignity
  • Keep children's records current and detailed, communicating with staff in relation to children's records
  • Comply with licensing and all statutory and quality assurance issues
  • Develop a co-operative rapport with all families, encouraging their involvement in the program, and centre activities.
  • Participate in regular performance appraisals in line with policy requirements
  • Project a positive, constructive image of the YMCA in the community
  • Ensure the service has a positive customer service culture and that this is maintained in all activities

About you:

  • Diploma or Certificate III (or working towards) in Early Childhood
  • Passionate and motivated to deliver high-quality educational programs and learning environments
  • A positive role model, demonstrating appropriate behaviour
  • Able to provide a dynamic, supportive, caring, and safe environment for all children, staff, and caregivers
  • An adaptable leadership style with the ability to guide, support and mentor team members
  • A commitment to ongoing professional growth as an individual and as a team
  • A positive, enthusiastic, and professional attitude

Mandatory Requirements

YMCA, including its Boards of Directors, are committed to the safety and well-being of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

  • A national criminal history check;
  • An international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas;
  • Holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with Territory laws;
  • Two reference checks.

Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and a commitment to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.
