We currently have an opportunity for a Configuration Officer in Melbourne to work on Land projects.

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Configuration Officer in Melbourne to work on Land projects.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

  • Perform complex technical configuration tasks, ensuring alignment with agreed priorities and outcomes.

  • Develop, review, and assess technical packages, including scoping, planning, and providing actionable recommendations.

  • Apply technical expertise to identify risks and uncertainties, incorporating these into planning and decision-making processes.

  • Build and maintain positive team relationships, actively mentor developing technicians, and contribute to collaborative outcomes.

  • Evaluate technical reports, processes, and equipment performance to meet requirements, drive continuous improvement, and implement corrective actions.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong understanding of Configuration Management principles and lifecycle practices for complex hardware/software systems (ANSI/EIA-649, MIL-STD-973 or similar).

  • Ability to conduct systematic, evidence-based analysis and provide detailed technical and procedural advice on complex configuration activities.

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in digital platforms.

  • Skilled in building collaborative stakeholder relationships and negotiating solutions to complex technical issues.

  • Demonstrated initiative in analyzing, planning, and adjusting priorities to achieve business outcomes.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
