About the Project:
John Holland is GoldlinQ's nominated design and construction contractor for GCLR3, to extend the existing light rail network by 6.7kms from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, including eight new light rail stations, two new light rail-bus connections, and intersection upgrades along the alignment.
We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join the electrical team, with a specifc focus on the LV works across the project. In this role you will report to the Electrical Senior Project Engineer and Rail Systems Manager, with several Site Engineers supporting you.
Key Responsibilities:
Working in the electrical team, you will coordinate on-site engineering functions, to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient support for construction activities.
- Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specifications
- Assist with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports
- Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Area Manager
- Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects
- Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions
- Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards
- Execute working knowledge of contractual and legislation relevant to the project
- Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes
- Analyse and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance reporting
- Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes
- Utilize effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource time management
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedure
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering ideally or related discipline; Electronic, Mechatronic, Mechanical etc
- Previous experience working on a large scale railway project or similar is advantageous
- 3-5+ years' postgraduate experience, ideally in a tier one contractor setting
- Leadership ability to provide mentorship to direct reports
- Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning and reporting on progress, cost and risk
- Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety
